Today was a good day…
Okay, now, you gotta say the above line like Ice Cube would. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, you're just not cool and it's time to face it.
Today was Thursday, and Thursday means GARAGE SALES! My friend and I have been going each Thursday for the last couple of months I'd say. We have a lot of fun. We spend $10-20 each, and it is THE BEST feeling to get something that costs a considerable amount more than you just paid. Today I had the privilege of going out with NO KIDS! Thanks to her wonderful husband and sister, who each watched one of my offspring for a few hours while we hunted. Oh… It was fun! Here are some of my finds:
This is a super-awesome spice rack with spice holders. I bought the spice holders, but the rack is a gift from my garage-sale buddy who just knew it would look great together. It is a set of 18, marked $5, and I talked her down to $3! DEF worth a lot more than that...probably worth over $50. These are in mint condition. Here's a close-up:
ADORABLE! Right?? The roof pops off of each of them, revealing the specific spice. LOVE IT!!!
She writes such cute books, and we haven't read this one yet. For $0.25, I couldn't pass it up.
This is baby Jacob's most favorite book EVER! I found it in a pile of books. I rented this SO many times from the library. Sure enough, he remembered it and has been "reading" it a lot. That makes me super happy!
These are agates. I got these and some beautiful broken pottery pieces for $1. My friend is going to use the pottery pieces for mozaics, and I want to use the agates to try out something like this gifted crafter has done. I think they are BEEEEEautiful! What exactly is the "policy" on trying another's craft anyway?? Anyone know??
This is like a car driver type thing that lets you drive a car on a street in the little screen on the steering wheel. It has lights and a gas and brake pedal with lots of buttons including the customary cat, dog, and duck noises. What?! You don't have those in your car?? Anyway, I got it for $1, and Jacob loves it. So does Evie really.
A Viewmaster with lots of discs. I paid $2 for this, and I think it was a great deal, but my friend said it was way too much. I had been looking for one of these for Evie. I'm still happy with it.
This is a wooden green frame, and it matches my living room and my kitchen perfectly. Not sure what to put in it yet, but for $0.25, I'll find something!
Can you tell I like green? This is a beautiful wooden fruit bowl I got for $1. I don't want to put fruit in it though. Maybe I'll try those decorative balls I've seen in some. Then again, that's asking for trouble what with my ball-throwing little slugger around. I'll figure something out. Maybe I'll have to glue the balls together so he can't whip them around?
This is a bunch of little bottles I bought for my button bouquet phase I'm going through. It was 3.50 for all of them. The small one is less than 2 inches high...so cute! I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to sell the bouquets with the vases or use them for display only. I really like these! We'll see. I also ordered some more off of ebay. They are just vintage medicine bottles like the one all the way to the left above. I bought a lot of 7 for $3 shipped. Those I could part with. Side note: The bottle above I mentioned is an old bottle that had Castor Oil in it. It is from the 1860s. You can read WAY too much about it here. Pretty interesting. Their slogan was cute: Children Cry for Fletcher's Castoria." ;)
